Library Books/Accelerated Reader Program
Our goal for each student is to have two library books read at home to them each week and for those two books to be returned to school for AR Testing. Each Friday we will have a class meeting to discuss our goal and receive a small prize if the goal is met. This is one of the most important activities you can do to build your child's fluency and comprehension skills. Thanks for helping your child achieve this goal!
Feel free to send back more than two if you wish. Please make sure that you complete the AR form and return it with the book so we know that your child is ready to test. Use the link below to print forms from home if needed. Accelerated Reader Form
Many of your child's books at home might be AR books as well. Feel free to use the AR Book Finder to look and see!
Remind your child each morning before school to take AR books and other items out of their backpack that need to be turned in (sight words, AR book, folder, agenda and any other various items). Thank you.
Sight Words -- Steps to Sight Word success!
1. Spend 10 minutes each night reviewing the words.
2. Make it a fun time by coming up with creative ways to practice (funny voices, silly games, etc..)
3. Don't give up! They will get the words if you keep practicing.
4. Do not show frustration which causes your child to become frustrated with the words also.
5. Have fun while learning!
